Just a reminder that the latest edition of the school newsletter (November) was given out to pupils this week. If you have not received a copy please let Kelly know and we can make sure you get it. It’s full of news and dates for your diary…it’s going to be a busy few weeks until the end of term so please check the dates using the newsletter or Facebook page for upcoming events.
Welcome back to school!
Pupils will return to school on Thursday 5th of September at 8.50am. We hope that you have all had a wonderful summer break.
Reception children will be in school until 12.30pm next week and will start full days from Monday 9th September.
The school office will be open on Wednesday 4th September between 9am and 1pm if anyone requires any items of uniform, there is limited stock available. As you can understand the first day back is really busy therefore there will be no uniform sold on Wednesday morning.
The cost of school meals is £10.25 per week (£2.05 per day). Please could you make sure that this is sent into school in a named envelope promptly each week. Payments can also be made via ParentPay. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will receive Universal Free School meals which is government funded.
Please ensure that uniforms are labelled with pupils names. This will be very helpful for pupils and staff.
Breakfast club will run as normal next week starting at 8am, this is open to all children from Reception to Year 6 and is £1 per day which should be paid in full at the beginning of the week stating which days your child will be attending.
After School Clubs will resume from Monday 09th September.
Enjoy the rest of your break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for the start of what will be a fantastic year for pupils and staff!

Uniform Items
Our current uniform items and their prices are as follows…
Parent ‘Code of Conduct’ document and Anti Bullying guidance for parents
Today, your child will be bringing home a copy of two new documents-our new ‘Code of Conduct’ for parents and our ‘Anti-bullying’ guidance for parents. The full version of the anti bullying policy and behaviour policy can be found in the policy section of our website. Both documents have been agreed and adopted by our Governing Body and we would be grateful if you could take the time to read them. As always, thank you for your continued support.
October Newsletter
Welcome back everyone!
School reopens for a brand new term on Wednesday 5th September. We hope you have all had a wonderful summer break. If you haven’t already signed up for our new Class Dojo reward and communication system, it would be great to have as many parents and carers using it at the beginning of term as possible. If you have lost your log on pass code, you can ask your child’s new teacher for another copy.
See you all on Wednesday! Listen out for our brand new automated bell to start the school day.
Well done to our athletics superstars!
Well done Jack Lowther, Skye Kay and Charlie Ashcroft for all placing highly (5th, 2nd and 4th respectively) in the County Athletics finals this afternoon. We are so proud of the three of you!
PING event
Pupils from Y6 took part in today’s PING (Peterlee International Group) event at Hutton Henry. Many schools from the Peterlee Partnership were represented in the event; each school chose a different country from the World Cup and created a table top presentation based on this country. Thornley focused on Egypt! Our Y6 girls had a fabulous afternoon looking at all the presentations and tasting lots of different foods from around the world!
Art missions!
We are so proud of all of the pupils hard work last half term. Each year group focused on a different artist or different art technique. We hope you get the chance to look at them around school before the end of term.
