Sports Premium
The Government is providing funding to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
For further details, please visit our Premium Allocations section where our Sports Premium information is located.
Sport and P.E Curriculum
Pupils have two hours of designated P.E time per week. We try to offer pupils a broad range of P.E topics to develop their skills in different areas. We use the Core Tasks to help us structure our planning and ensure that we teach those skills in a sequential way. Take a look at our Core Task planning and some photos of our fabulous pupils enjoying these tasks in their P.E sessions.
Recent achievements
We are proud of our pupils participation in school competitions last term (ran by the Sports Partnership). We came 1st place in tennis and 2nd place in both basketball and cricket. Well done to all pupils involved!
After School Sports
We are working hard to provide pupils at Thornley Primary School with opportunities to try different sports activities out of school hours to both enhance their skills and promote the benefits of exercise and a healthy lifestyle. For an up-to-date list of what after school sports clubs we are offering please see our School Clubs page.
Some of our past sporting competitions and achievements
We are so proud of our pupils and the effort they put into school sports.
