Hello,
I am Miss Parker and I am the Year 1 teacher. I have been at Thornley for over 8 years and I feel very lucky to work here. I have been a teacher for 23 years working in Sunderland and Lincolnshire.
This is my first time teaching in Year 1 for a very long time and I love being in this amazing year group. The thing I love most is teaching the phonics lessons. I believe that every child has the right to learn to read and it is our job to work hard to make this happen. I also enjoy teaching Maths lessons.
My favourite time of the day is 3.15pm when we all settle down and enjoy a great book chosen by the children for our end of day story. The perfect way to end our day.
I also love listening to music and singing. I thoroughly enjoy leading the weekly singing assembly, there is nothing better than starting the day hearing our children singing together.
Year 1, and Thornley, really is a special place to be!
